The spirit of the Easter '25 celebration is down in many Nigerian cities as about 600,000 Nigerians lost over $800 million to the CBEX. It is said to be another Ponzi scheme. Unknown to the participants CBEX was never registered with Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or other financial authorities. The collapsed scheme led to frustration and looting of CBEX offices across the nation. This huge loss, combined with the present economic hardship in the nation, is a great challenge to the abilities of families involved. People hardly enjoy the festive season in our country.

Blindness is a major health challenge in developing countries of Africa. It was reported by the Nigerian Optometric Association in 2022, that nearly seven million Nigerians are blind. The National President of the Association, Dr Obinna Awiaka, said that 80 percent of these cases are avoidable. According to Dr Ibenu in 2023, the North West geo-political zone of Nigeria with the largest population, has the largest number of blind adults, which is about 28.6%. It's a group of over 2 million Nigerians over there. The vulnerable visually impaired people from poor backgrounds, and those who fled their communities as a result of terrorism, turned to begging for alms across the country. Most seek their hope in this darkness by relying on help from family members at most. But also developed countries can help. Vitamin A is very essential for preventing further increase of blindness cases. One of the best products comes to Africa from Poland. However, it's still rather an informal support provided by individuals than export to such a big market as Nigeria.

The bravery of the farmers in Northern Nigeria against the local terrorism is commendable. With various terrorist factions vying for supremacy in the North the farmers are continually under attacks. Some have to go to the farm fields with their weapons. Others abandoned their farmland and everything was left for nothing on the field. These acts of terror have led to a serious decrease in food production in the Nation thereby, increasing the dependency on imported food. The Nigeria newspapers and medias are filled with images of farmers that met their end on the farm. Less than a week ago, it was reported that the Nigeria Military will have henceforth to protect farmers during harvest.

Months before the last presidential election, Nigerians were expecting the same replay of the political race between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC), where both parties will field their contestants and we will have to choose one of them. However, that scenario started to change this time. A man with verifiable achievements decided to leave the PDP and join the centrist Labor Party (LP). Peter Obi was once the governor of Anambra State, and a running mate to PDP's Atiku in the 2019 presidential election. He didn't succeed in 2023. But the odds are changing when Nigerian youth has formed the “Obedient Movement”. It was the first of its kind in Nigerian political arena. Whenever there is an argument about Obi’s credibility, “Go and verify” is the answer. This proves even more that Peter Obi is a trustworthy contestant for the "Nigeria Decides 2027". Fingers crossed for Nigeria.

If you ever visit Nigeria, do not miss our popular "JOLLOF" rice. Its delicious taste and the simplicity of its recipes make it a very friendly meal both locally and internationally. In the 1960s, the recipes followed Polish sailors from Nigerian ports in the West Africa to the port city of Szczecin, in Northwestern Poland. The snack known as Polish "Paprykarz Szczecinski" was introduced to Polish people. It's Nigerian "JOLLOF" serving as a spread for the locals enjoying Polish bread. It proves that great local food from Africa can indeed create friendship over borders, among people with diverse heritage. Enjoy your "Paprykarz" for breakfast, Poland!

The early morning of Thursday - 1 August 2024, was a day Nigerians actualized their planned protest termed “End Bad Governance Protest” against the governance of the nation. The heat of the protest was growing in the northern part of Nigeria where some Polish students were arrested allegedly for waving the Russian flag. However, it was not reported by any Kano based civic journalist. According to the diplomatic statement from the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, he stated that “the students were only at the wrong place at the wrong time”. They were later released. It proves the importance of a need of the new opening of Nigeria-Poland relations. We are similar countries.
